About this property

Welcome to Travelodge Portsmouth City Centre

Travelodge Portsmouth City Centre offers streamlined, air-conditioned rooms within an informal setting ideal for visitors seeking central accommodation. The hotel features an on-site cafe/bar and a restaurant serving breakfast, available for an additional fee. While parking is limited, guests can find additional spaces nearby, and the property is pet-friendly and accessible.

Located on Stanhope Road, the hotel sits directly across from Victoria Park and is only a four-minute walk from Portsmouth and Southsea train station. This convenient position places guests within easy reach of local attractions such as Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, about a mile away, and the University of Portsmouth, less than ten minutes on foot.

Guest feedback highlights clean, modern rooms with comfortable beds and views over the park as appealing features. However, parking availability and breakfast organization have drawn mixed comments, with some noting challenges due to limited spaces and occasional delays or limited options at breakfast. The hotel staff receive praise for helpfulness, though experiences vary.

With a rating of 3.9 based on 785 reviews, this hotel caters well to travelers prioritizing location and practicality over luxury amenities. It provides a straightforward, smoke-free stay without fitness facilities or airport shuttle, making it suitable for visitors mainly focused on easy access to Portsmouth’s city centre and local points of interest.

Clean and modern rooms. The view is FANTASTIC. Haven't seen Travelodge hotel like this for a long time.... 5 stars all the way! Edit: After unlimited breakfast experience I had to take 1 star away because they were too unorganised- always something missing and long wait till they topped it up. Parking is limited, but there is a plenty of parking spaces just accross the road.

Best shower iv ever had in a hotel! Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was okay. Beautiful view over the park. The light on the smoke detector flashes fairly brightly every 5 seconds, won't be an issue for most but I was able to see it with my eyes closed and it affected my sleep a little. Car park is very small (25 spaced for 152 rooms) but the cathedral car park is just over the road and a reasonable price.

I booked my team to stay here and I had an issue with receipts. Sarah was very helpful in helping me sort this issue out. Whilst it wasn’t easy to resolve, she did a fab job! She made the experience better than Trevor who was rude and condescending on check in.

Super impressed by this travelodge. Spacious room, very clean and comfy beds. The views are the best feature. Perfectly located in the centre. Parking can be tricky - if you get there early this shouldn’t be an issue although if you move ur car during your stay you may lose your spot.

A little stop over on our way to Weymouth for our holiday. Paid extra for a quiet room on the top floor and had the option to choose what room we wanted. A great view of Old Portsmouth and the park. Also paid for breakfast, which was very nice. Available options of cereal or English breakfast (always go for the English). Parking available but limited, so getting there earlier rather than later is advised. However, there are other car parks available nearby. Easy to get to and park (as stated above) and well worth paying extra for a better experience. And the staff were polite and helpful and need a medal after we witnessed a nightmare guest on our arrival (she was a comical pain in the bum). Will definately use again if in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean, however our card kept deactivating every afternoon and we stayed for 4 nights so had to keep going back to reception to reactivate which was slightly annoying. We found car park space on all the days we were there despite there being a limited amount, however we did stay during the Xmas period. We paid for breakfast too, the staff Yehoz was very helpful and brought up vegetarian sausages every morning. The bakery section such as crossiants were not always available and the drinks were so diluted on the first two days you couldn’t even taste the apple or orange flavour. Aside from that all good. Very good location too with shops just outside your doorstep.

This hotel is excellent for a Travelodge, in terms of comfort, cleanliness and lack of noise. Location wise, it is handy for visiting tourist destinations in the city and is located close to Portsmouth and Southsea Station. Car Parking is limited. Only very early arrivals will obtain a place. Car parking is not free but is cheap compared to rival car parks. Breakfast is fine, though the hostess was not very attentive to cleaning of previously occupied tables or replenishment of cutlery. Overall: Recommended.

Great travel lodge, great location, reasonable restaurant on site and a bar Good coffee Car park is 5£ per 24 hours. Breakfast was ok but very basic and not just cooked, buffet style But all in all worth a stay.
